Fresh Snow
Do you ever cry ? Not the kind of crying at the time of immense grief or sorrow. Not crying in happiness either. Crying when your pent up emotions need a release, the anger needs a way out, the stress needs to be busted. Yes counting from 1 to 10 and further and deep breaths might help. Hitting the source of anger with a slingshot works even better. But try getting into the shower, let the water flow over you in force, and let your tears down.
The warm water gushing over you, mingled with the fresh smell of your body wash and the tears just flowing. You don’t need a shoulder to cry on, a shower works better.
Snow does wonders to me as you can see even if I don’t have to clean the driveway or the car. Here’s to the first snow of the season. Test
Sandeepa, seems like we escaped the snow, we were supposed to get sleet but that did not turn up either. No complaints. Yes! the shower crying is a good cleansing experience :)
ReplyDeleteSuch eloquent prose: Hitting the source of anger with a slingshot works even better. But try getting into the shower, let the water flow over you in force, and let your tears down.

What is it about water that offers such solace and comfort? I wish I were on Lake Superior watching crashing waves and that falling snow. But it looks nice in your yard, Sandeepa. We got some overnight too, and the kids went late to school. Oh, how Miss M loved that! Hope you're doing well :)
ReplyDeleteSandeepa i think it must be really chil out there
ReplyDeleteSnow - I hate snow!
ReplyDeleteU ask Why - The place I stayed for 2 long years (upstate NY) had 13 inches of snow every single day for 3 long months with snow storms almost every other day. and I experienced 2 such horrible winters. Phew, I am glad to say that I am out of it now!..:)
lovely pic Sandeepa!

I whole heartedly agree with the shower therapy :-)...it's getting cold in our neck of the woods but definitely no sign of snow.
ReplyDeleteAre you alright Sandeepa? Why a post about crying?
ReplyDeleteI agree with your shower therapy. Recently another thing that is helping me is hot bath with some relaxing salts. Works wonders :).
We had been to a NFL match yesterday and for our badluck the weather was 30F (dropped suddenly). I can't explain my plight. It was a sheer torture. Since we had taken a ride from office van, I had to keep quiet and watch a game which I don't even understand :(. Shower and bath definitely helped me after reaching home :)
That's a lovely photo, we're still awaiting our first snow here in D.C., should be here this week I hope!
ReplyDeleteChicago had its first snow of the season too on Saturday!
ReplyDeleteHey Bong Chef! No tears....that would mean excess salt in the food ;)
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, all ok?
And yes, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I feel all full of emotion, though I don't really know why. And then I just let myself go. If I feel like crying, I go ahead and get it out of my system. It's very very good for me! So glad to see this articulated by you!
i get that emotion when i rake leaves sandeepa..which i had to do for 2 hrs straight..b'coz the snow was coming in....take care girl :)

U have described the experience so healingly well.Oh yes, that helps indeed.......
ReplyDeleteHugs :) You're such a cheerful girl - ki holo ? Majhey majhey gola chheey kandtey icchey korey and I suppose the shower can drown out the noise .
ReplyDeleteWell, we got our yearly 1 cm of snow here in Victoria, however 30 km up the highway they got 15 cm,go figure. However there was enough on the hill to go butt sliding with my son and his girlfriend. Kendey aar ki hobey (that's the mother of two young adults, who have sent me over the edge a few times, talking).
ReplyDeleteYes, letting it flow out of me helps.....always (especially in the shower)! It all evaporates like the mist! I love snow as well and am glad you are enjoying your first snow of the season.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, i haven't been able to get myself to blog in recent times, dunno' why! i keep telling myself that one of these days, i will.....and then i don't :-D. But yes, soon i will :).
hugs,

I love the snow, but only when I don't have to shovel snow off driveways or scape my car windows! :-)
ReplyDeleteHear hear for the snow. I do cry. A lot. Sometimes, just out of frustration!!
ReplyDeleteLove the snow. Dump ten feet in my driveway for all I care. Not so fun to slosh through NYC streets, though.
ReplyDeleteA good cry does work wonders, releases all the stress hormones that build up. Anger works, too -- a water gun, perhaps?
Delo
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed healing is it not ?

Hitting with a water gun :) never tried that.
You are in luck this year with the snow starting early
Sandeepa, I get this gut wrenching tears (is that possible ?) when I remember my childhood days in India and an extreme longing to go back. Do you ever get such craving ? Does it decrease when you have a kid ? It used to be much worse for me before I got married...being a lone grad student. And yes, the longing intensifies with rain (no snow in Cali).

Am new to this post, but feel hv bn here much longer.Came across it when my Khejurer Payesh went wrong.Love reading the comments and today i'm indeed very, very happy 'coz u'v responded.Feel u mst be a grt human being.Don't know y?Am from Gurgaon(Haryana).
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteReading yr post makes me long to see my 17 yr old son who has left ths yr for (TUFTS)Medford,Boston for his under-grad.Wonder hw he's coping..all for the first time in his life staying in a hostel, that too so far far away. All he tells me is 'i'm fine,u take care of yourself'.
Mystic
ReplyDeleteI get you, loneliness can get at you add to it the pressure of being a single gard student. I am sure you must be having a great time now :)
And yes for me the extreme longing to go back home has reduced after I had my daughter. Maybe because I am too busy doing stuff and thinking about her. Also because i have my parents visiting more often now.
But I used to have that feeling in the initial years. But over the years it has dawned on me that even when I go back things are not the same, it is more of my imagination and the reality does not really match with it
Delo
I am so sorry that I didn't respond to your earlier comment. I don't check comments on older posts :) It was indeed great that you liked the paayesh.
About your son, I know how you must worry, my Mom worries till now and I am much older than your son:)Maybe you can chat with him everday, that will make you feel better.
Oh and Deleo he must be a great student to get into TUFTS
ReplyDeleteDelo, don't worry about your son. Living in dorms, undergrads tend to have tonnes more fun than boring grads. Also I gained and learned tonnes more living on my own than I could ever have done it. I am thankful of my experience too.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous/Mystic
ps: Sandeepa, hope you won't mind that I took the liberty to address other commenter directly. I felt I should clarify here.
Me too ,Sandeepa.Didnt realise actually.Do tell me if i've broken any rules.Feels already like one big family!
ReplyDeleteWhat does one do with very good CHIRE
ReplyDeletefrom Kolkata other than making POHA and stuff?Actually donot want to make hi calorie stuff like Chire bhaja. Can one roast it 'n make something edible?
Lovely picture, and great advice... I too cry when I am angry, which is such a dreadful habit :( next time I will get into the shower..

That is fine :) love a adda don't we ?
Delo you can almost dry roast the chire with very little oil. You have to do in small quantities.
Temper with dry red chillies and little ginger pieces.
The roasted poha will be dry (not oily), light brown in color. Store it and later have it with chopped onion, peanuts, green chillies and whatever you want
Sig
yes do that :)
Hearing abt TUFTS from u was heartening.Shared it with my family as well.Looking fwd to finding out hw good. With all your blessings, hope he scales heights in the future as well.Above all, pray turns out to be a good human being.
ReplyDeleteThanx for the CHIRE suggestion.Anything from Kolkata is precious.God knows when i'll get to visit the city nxt.Imagine i stay in India 'n saying that!
