Okay, okay...who am I kidding. It is not about them. It is about you, "The Readers", as in you human drumming on the keyboard with your fingers or tapping on your phone with grotesquely long nails and looking at my blog page with a look of utter boredom. "Really, this woman", you are probably thinking, "how she wastes her time, cooking masoor dal and then writing about it. Huh!" Or you could also be someone settled down with a cup of chai in the corner couch and reading through my post, ready with perfectly sweet, polite comments to pep me up.
I love you both. I like you all. I also want to thank you and you. So whoever you are stay put because the next few words I write can change your life forever. Okay, maybe not but we can hope.
Now today being a sunny Wednesday and yesterday being a rainy Tuesday in my part of the world and the fact that it is also Diwali (or rather day after Diwali) and that good always wins over evil and that I love you in the theoretical sense, I would like to gift you a FIFTY DOLLARS gift card from Amazon.
Now ideally I would have loved to give all of you and myself that gift card but in real world that is not possible. So I am going to have to pick one single person who can then splurge his or her way on Amazon. And splurge you can with a $50 amazon gift card.
Also as we all know that happiness doubles on sharing, I will also be contributing FIFTY DOLLARS to a charity of the winner's choice and the contribution will be made in the name of the winner. Note: The charity should be a registered one and should be able to receive online payment.
Here are the rules of the game.
1. Like this blog's page on FaceBook ("Like" only if you like this blog and not because I am telling you to)
2. Spread the word about this blog and giveaway on Facebook and Twitter. My Twitter handle is @BongMomCookBook. Shameless plug in I know but I think more people deserve to know about Indian and Bengali food, there is a whole range of tastes to explore.
3. Once you have done 1 and 2 leave a comment finishing the sentence "If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is ___________". If you are not comfortable doing 1 and 2, fine, just leave a comment. Please leave your e-mail so that I can contact you in case of a win.
4. The winner will be picked from those who leave a comment, using Random.org and will be announced on November 20th
**The Amazon gift card is a global card and can be used wherever you are. However depending on your location Amazon may or may not ship certain things. That you can check with Amazon. You can also use it for buying digital entertainment stuff like apps and books for kindle.
I do not know if it is a good idea to eat dessert before bungee jumping, honestly, but if I did, it would have to be Black Forest Cake. Nothing else!
ReplyDeleteI 'like' you on Facebook..:)
ReplyDeleteLast desert hmm- would probably be the Turkish dessert kunefe (it is also a Lebanese desert and made in other countries too- but I lurve the crispy Turkish version). oh and chocolate lava cake.
Thanks for the generous giveaway!!
Nice giveaway. The last dessert I would eat would be the caramel custard..really craving for it now. Tried your Nimki recipe for Diwali came out very well. Thanks so much http://cookingupsomethingnice.blogspot.ru/2012/11/nimki-bengali-namak-para.html
ReplyDeletehahaha :D well i am really hoping i am that one person because i have a 50$ voucher already and nothing i want fits into that budget. how greedy, eh?
ReplyDeletelast dessert? no such thing! i'd come back after jumping and have a dessert buffet. so there!
I don't think I would ever go bungee jumping, but if I ever did, the last dessert would surely be Tiramisu!
ReplyDeleteMy last dessert would be really good sushi because I like that best of all more than sweets. The idea of bungee jumping is incomprehensible to me. :o)
ReplyDeletemine last dessert would be " tres leches ". I made it once it was yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI "like"ed your FB page a while back, tweeted about your giveaway, and am stuck with dessert. Real tricky one, and from the responses, my guess is that for a lot of people, bungee jumping is kind of like - dying, and the last thing is like - the topmost thing. For me, I would choose carefully, and the last thing I would choose would be mihidana with rabri! or maybe peaches and cream.
ReplyDeleteis it a good idea to have a bowlful of payes before that (am sure I would never bungee jump though)???
ReplyDeletealready liked your page on FB...between is this open for us in India?
I think i'l prefer eating after coming back form bungee jumping :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway the choice of my dessert would be my mom's gulab jamoon or malpua.
I am not made for any kind of adventure sports, so I will never go bungee jumping. But the last dessert will have to be anarsa's made by my Mom !

Ok you know i have done the first one long ago and the second one i would do if i remember my paasword for twitter it is alaways changing as i forget them and then i send them a mail saying forgot paasword and they send me a notification to change and the cycle goes on and on.
ReplyDeleteAbout bungee jumbing i don't think i will ever do that, but then in a situation like that i think i would not eat anything at all as i will be sure if i jump i will throw up because of beeing afraid :-)
Dear Sandeepadi,
ReplyDeletePlease don't count me in for the giveaway, $50 voucher diye ki kinbo sheta decide korata aaro beshi oshubidha hobe amar jonno ;) Anyway, amar FB account-o aar nei. But to play along, if I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is undoubtably khejur gurer payesh made by my mum, didi or mami.
Belated wishes for Diwali and Bijoya (even though it really is a bit too late for Bijoya).
Sutapa :)
Liked on FB and tweeted - https://twitter.com/maynekitty/status/269121447564308480
ReplyDeleteI'd never go bungee jumping but if I suddenly lost my mind and went, my dessert would be Strawberry Shortcake the way my mother always made it. That's the way I make it also: homemade shortcake, fresh strawberries, homemade whipped cream w/a touch of vanilla.
Oh, and I'd have it the night b4 in case I get motion sickness when they hoist me up for the jump.

P.S. I've been meaning to ask you about easy recipes for Chichinga. Any suggestions? We have 3 left from the garden.

ReplyDeleteI am not a dessert kind but for many years I haven't tasted 'Sarpuria' from VIP sweets (Salt Lake, Kolkata, India). So before going for a bungee jumping I would love to eat a piece or 2 of Sarpuria! The upside down jump after that will have mouth-watering effect :-p
ReplyDeleteSandeepa,
ReplyDeleteI already "like" you on FB, and don't have a twitter account. Ever since I happened upon your blog I have been having this sense of "i/we did that" everything from Mango'r jhol on Sundays to khichuri-pokora on rainy/cold days. Besides I have two little girls like you that I want to have grow up knowing bengali food culture (since their dad is Canadian), so reading your blog is sometimes like reading my mind! Besides you are funny, which is the highest compliment I can offer.
SO "if I was to go bungee jumping the last desert i would eat"... would be rasmalai and Creme Brulee. But they would have to be the very best, I am very picky with my rasmalais and creme brulees!

I liked ur page long back, twitter not active!
ReplyDeleteI am not a desssert person, but If I would go bungee jumping the last dessert I would eat is Rasmalai :)
I am not on FB and hardly check anything on twitter :(. I hate bungee jumping but for the sake of that gift card, I will temporarily accept it. I would love to have choshir payesh made by my mother.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how replies to comments work quite yet... so I am reposting my reply from my blog, to you, here:
ReplyDeleteOh that's too bad, that you decided not to move!... Manitoba is small (population wise) but friendly! And yes there are at least two durga Pujo's performed at Winnipeg and SEVERAL bengali cultural events throughout the year. The indian population density and the grocery availability is far from NJ (we were in Edison and East Windsor visiting family this summer) but still pretty good. It is a very stable (economically) and multicultural province.
If you don't mind my asking, what industry does your husband work in? Most of the bengali community here is professional, your typical engineers/doctors/professors/educators and at least one architect!
cheers,
The last desert before bungee jumping would be the Indian "chilli chicken" as I'm not a desert person... I don't even mange to win ludo, so let's see if this one works.. Fingers crossed :-)
ReplyDelete"If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is Sondesh" because that would keep me in state of bliss for next few minutes :-)
ReplyDeleteI liked your FB page and even retweeted about you....keeping my finger's crossed :-)
Happy Diwali and Subho bijoya to u and ur loved ones :) (all belated though!).I am a facebook person and already like u there but do not belong to twitter at all though will try it out.
ReplyDelete"If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is Abar Khabo".
The motive behind this wud be to put myself in an infinte loop (abar khabo, abar abar khabo ,abar abar abar khabo.....) and never go for the bungee jumping at all . ;)
Sandeepa,
ReplyDeleteI think I would go for some patisapta!!
;-)
cheers,
happy Diwali........

DeleteA long time lurker of your blog :).. Liked your FB page..
ReplyDeleteIf I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is "gulab jamun - the one made with condensing milk for hours.." :)
Your e-mails are so entertaining. I was amused by this idea of yours, bungee jumping. Well, I will never survive and am scared to even imagine. But I would like chilled ras malai with fainted smell of rose water sprinkled with pistachio. You do not have to give out prize for the best answer. You can do this just for fun along with your alluring recipes.
ReplyDeleteHappy Diwali.
Bhattacharjee, Pennsylvania
If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is aate ka halva or kaDha as we call it in Punjab
ReplyDeleteIf I were crazy enough to ever go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would enjoy having would definitely be tiramasu!!! mm2021[at]gmail[dot]com
ReplyDeleteHmm.. my last desserts.. wow..just too many, but maybe tiramisu and chocolate custard.. and some more chocolate..
ReplyDeleteme too a long time lurker and make an occasional appearance to comment. :) like i said the last time, love your witty style of writing . Best of luck on your new cook book.My last dessert would be gulab jamun made with mawa..yum yum :) - sarah

If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is... Tiramisù! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is rasgulla. I love Bengali sweets .. thank you for a great giveway!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your blog and have probably tried most of your recipes successfully so far at home. Your bhapa doi recipe saved me last time when I had guests at home and tried to make doi from scratch and wasn't successful in the attempt. I was still able to make the doi following your recipe by the time they finished off the lunch. :-) Thank you for the giveaway! I don;t think I will ever go bungee jumping in my life unless something bad happens to me and I know I am going to die anyway on that same day :-) but "If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is gujiya with mishti doi".
ReplyDeleteLove you blog :)
ReplyDeleteOk, here goes --- "If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is Kheer er Chop" - Suchismita

If I would go bungee jumping, the last dessert I would eat is 'hot rashogollas'. Though it is quite hard to choose from my favourite bengali desserts I guess rashogolla will win this time, specially as they are hot ;)

Errr..I dont access FB anymore...but you know I am a fan right?I have been reading for 2 years now and you, obviously have made me drool on Bong food for a long time...I have tried some sweets (easy microwave ones you have given) some jhaal like the muri and some perfectly bong veg bong dishes :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I would never ever have the guts to go Bungee Jumping..and even if I have, I wouldnt waste a sweet on it because I am sure to puke..but still if you are asking, I would well, I would go on and have a nice big fat chunk of rasagulla followed by some sober gajar halwa and some yummy coconut/jaggery burfi ;) Hey you asked for it eh?
Im not much on FB nor twitter...I think FB will kick me out soon for least activity :)
ReplyDeleteAnd not much of a dessert nor bungee jumping person either (yea I know Im wierd).
But if at all I go bungee jumping, the last I would crave for is a plate of yum biryani.

The last thing I would eat before I go bungee jumping (or bucket kicking, practically same thing for me) is "Rallis'(Kolkata) kulfi malai"
ReplyDeleteI liked your FB page already
Aindreem
Did all that but I would probably not eat anything before bungee jumping. But if you ask as in what would be your last meal then it would probably me gobindo bhog chaal-er bhaat, moong-mushurir daal, nana rokom bhaaja and even maach bhaaja..
